This paper explores and analyzes the two psychopaths, Josef Fritzl and Frederick Clegg, as they are presented respectively in the novel “The Collector” and in the biography “Monster”.
The two psychopaths are characterized by analysis and interpretation, which forms the basis for their absurd actions, and makes it clear what, defines them as real psychopaths. The analysis will mainly be focusing on the structure of the two books and the characterization of the Frederick and Josef. The paper also discusses, by comparing, how Frederick and Josef in many ways are similar to each other and at the same time very different.
It is shown that Frederick and Josef both are strongly influenced by their harsh adolescence and the society they grew up in. This has had an essential role in their later development. Because of their missing or incorrect solicitude they had, they both have a distorted vision of the world they live in, and especially of the opposite sex.
