All over the world, junk food firms have had great success the last five years, one of the reasons is that people today don’t have the same food traditions as we had earlier. People simply don’t have the time to prepare a good and healthy dinner, in our busy times. Of course is advertising also a reason why, brands such as McDonald and Burger King have spend a huge sum of money on advertising for their products.
Every day people are being reminded of junk food in magazines, newspapers, outdoor commercials and posters on their way to work, school or in other situations. Junk food is also displayed in supermarkets. Often with a nice exhibition, which you cannot miss when you are shopping.
Every day we are getting bombed with advertising for junk food. That is the reason why I don’t think the complete solution is to ban junk food advertisements. I think that a lot of other things would need to be banned if junk food were to be banned. Things like alcohol, cigarettes and soft drinks with sugar should be banned too, as they can also be dangerous for people’s health.
But I think it is a very good idea to start by banning junk food advertisements and actually all commercials completely from TV during children’s programmes, because I think we should spare the children for commercials as much as possible because they should not be exposed to it at such a young age.
That would help on peoples eating habits not constantly being exposed to the temptation it is, seeing commercials for junk food. So even though it is not a complete solution it is a start. I think that for every junk food commercial there is on TV, the government should make advertisements for exercise, because in the long run, the only thing that can change Britain from going over the brink of an obesity epidemic is to encourage people to exercise as much as possible.
As a child you don’t think of the consequences, the thought of cancer and diabetes from to much junk food. It doesn’t even pass a child’s mind. That is also why I think that it is wrong for a firm to exploit children’s ignorance, my opinion is that, it is not ethic correct to encouraging child’s weakness by junk food ads, and it is therefore not acceptable to show ads during children’s schedules.

encourage...... = encourage children to buy junk food. They simply do not know about the consequences of eating too much unhealthy junk food.
