Fracture strength is defined as the work done required to cause breakage. A uni-axial tensile test is performed to determine the energy to fracture a component. A piezoelectric force transducer on an actuating ram in a linkage has a sensitivity with its associated amplifier of 1 V/kN, and is connected to the Y-axis of an X-Y recorder, the sensitivity setting of the recorder being 20 cm/V.. The displacement of the ram is sensed by a variable -resistance transducer with amplifier of 25 V/m and is connected to the X-axis of the recorder, the setting being 2,00 cm/V.
a) Draw the block diagram
b) If the area under the curve traced out during a stroke of the ram is 24000 mm^2 and the length of the X-axis under the curve is 225 mm, calculate the average force in newton applied to the component and the energy (J) required to fracture the componenent

Du kan beregne middelhøjden i Y på kurven til
<Y> = 24000mm2/225mm = 106,67mm
Benyt så de forskellige skalaoplysninger til at omregne det til kraftens middelværdi.
