Er der en der gider rette i flg, det drejer sig om be+passiv:
A lot happens in these pictures: warships are being built and loaded with weapons, horses, soldiers and lots of fine French wine so the Normans are equipped to the voyage over the Channel. There is eating and drinking at enormous parties and there is fighting so wounded people and animals are swirled up into the air, and the dead lies lying spread on the battlefield.
The series ends very abruptly: Vilhelm’s men kills Harald and conquers England, messengers sets out – and here the wallpaper ends. There is no actual ending, where you for instance sees the crowning of Vilhelm. You do not know, if it never was finish or if the last part has been warn of over the years.
The battle of Hatings is a historic landmark, because no one has ever since succeeded in conquering England. Napoleon and Hitler did there best, but failed. It is by the way amazing that the Bayeux-wallpaper still exists for most of the towns around “the allied landing beaches” were almost flattened during the battle of Normandy after the invasion in 1944.
Bayeux was however the first town, that was liberated by the allied troops. Therefore they avoided the fiercely battles and the usual destructions, and the Bayeux-wallpaper was preserved for the posterity.
