Er der en, som har tid til at læse min engelsk stil igennem og evt. rette grammatikken? :) Jeg er meget dårlig til engelsk så det vil være en stor hjælp.

Characterization of Neil Perry

I have chosen to follow Neil Perry. Neil is a sixteen years old boy and he studies at Walton Academy. He is son of Mr. Perry who is teacher on Walton Academy.  Neil liked by his friends and teachers. With inspiration from the English teacher Mr. Keating, Neil was very interested to reestablish the Dead poets society club with his friends, and he arranged the first meeting. Neil is like a leader for his friends. I think Neil is a skilled student, and that is because after Mr. Nolan’s speech in the beginning of the story, he said “we’re expecting great things of you, Mr. Perry” to Neil. Neil’s dream is to become an actor in the future. He is a boy who respects his father.
Neil’s father is very strict and dominating. Mr. Perry denied Neil’s dream about his further because he had decided, that Neil should be a doctor. He is very attentions of Neil’s concentration and focus on the studies, and aware of that Neil does not been disturbed by other unnecessary things. That is why Mr. Perry said that he should not have any extracurricular activities. Mr. Perry never let his son take decisions self. Neil rebels against Mr. Perry by acting Puck in Midsummer Night’s dream without permission from Mr. Perry and in this way he offends the fathers order. After the intercom following his performance of Midsummer Night’s dream, Neil loosed confidence to persuade Mr. Perry and the faith about the father will accept his further dream. Neil was frightened to stand up and speak against him, and that’s why he decided to commit suicide.
At the beginning of the story Neil does what his father want him to do and he does never know what he want to do and be. But bay impacts of Mr. Keating’s lessons and the Dead poets society meetings he developed positive during the story. When he learns about the play, he says “For the first time in my whole life I know what I want” even though his father was against this. But at the end he loosed confident and commit suicide and it was negative. So I will say Neil does not develop his character during the story because he is back to his position in the beginning of the story when he commits suicide.
