In 1979 there were about 300 break-ins in English shcools, which cost the goverment 15 million punds.
Ofcourse its mosltly happens in the shcool vacations. With the local Education Authories in Suffolk the police have following plan to prevent peoples to break in the shcools: Each shcool is having a group of children which will take care of it in vacations. Its not the intention that they shall live in the shcool, but they have to monitor it from the outside and avoid not to been seen them selves by an eventual burglar.
If they seen one, they have to call the police, but noth allowed to no anything else.
when the authorites in Suffolk got the idea, they also meant, that this plan would be valuable in another way. The children would learn to feel a bigger resposibility of their shcool, and they would learn to respect others property.

In 1979 there were approximately three hundred forced entries in British schools that cost the government fifteen million pounds.
Naturally it is especially during holidays that the stealing occurs. In collaboration with the local authorities in Suffolk, the police made up the following plan in order to prevent people from breaking into the schools: Each school needs to have a group of students who are to keep an eye on it during holidays. The point is not that they are to live/stay at/in the school, but they are to monitor/watch it from the outside, and avoid being seen by a possible burglar. If seeing one, they are to call the police without doing anything themselves.
When the authorities in Suffolk had the idea they also believed that this plan would be of great value in another way.
The children would learn to feel a greater responsibility to their school, and they would respect other people's possessions
