Work for everybody
Vicky was sitting and thinking about the pessimism that had grabbed her and the other young ones in the 1980s. The fear of the world would end like a toxic rubbish dump. Or a atomic war would wipe out all life on few minutes: Or that the machines would take over all the place of working. But it had not at all gone that way.
This is the beginning of a story about the life in 2020, written by a Danish writer that, as so many others of the time, is worried of the consequences of the modern technology.
Vicky is contented (er altså godt tilfeds). She has like her husband a useful and interesting job. She works on a computer, which is installed at home, with many different planningprogrammes which is used by the state – at least she thinks so – for coordinating of the still more and more effective effort so that they can solve the problems that have been a serious threat against human existence.
One day Vicky accidentally discovers that her computer not at all is connected to the central data base. The results of her work are not at all used by anybody. Naturally she becomes terrible shocked.
Jeg har ikke den danske tekst på computeren, men hvis der blot tjekkes for korrekt engelsk ville jeg blive meget glad!

Vicky (was thinking) about the pessimism that had grabbed her and the other young ones in the 1980s. The fear (that) the world would end like a toxic rubbish dump. Or (an) atomic war would wipe out all life (in a) few minutes: Or that the machines would take over all the place of working (jobs?). But it had not gone that way (at all)(Tjek om tiden er korrekt her).
This is the beginning of a story about /the/ life in 2020, written by a Danish writer that, (like) so many others (at) the time, is(was?) worried (about) the consequences of /the/ modern technology.
Vicky is (content) (er altså godt tilfeds). She has, like her husband, a useful and interesting job. She works (with) a computer, which is installed at home with many different (planning programmes) (2 gange which = omskriv?)which is used by the state – at least she thinks so – (to coordinate) the still more and more (efficient) effort so that they can solve the problems that have been a serious threat (to) human existence.
One day Vicky accidentally discovers that her computer not at all is connected to the central data base. The results of her work are not at all used by anybody. Naturally she (is) (terribly) shocked.
