Rockets are divided into two principal types: solid-propellant rockets and liquid-propellant rockets. In both types the motor is combustion chambers which burn the fuel. A rocket operates on the same basis principle as an inflated balloon when the air is discharged. When the opening is closed the air pressure is equal in all directions. But when the air streams out the pressure by the balloon is less at the open end than at the opposite end, causing the balloon to dart forwards. A rocket does not operate quite as simple, but the basis principle is the same.
