It was a Wednesday night in 2001 the earthquake had hit Alanya. Alanya is a wonderful city, which lies beautifully on south Turkey. I was in summer holiday in Turkey with my parents. Then the earthquake happens I was sleeping in my bed, my mother come in my room and wakes me up. I haven’t idée what there happen, but I could hear some people those scrims - every people run. My mother and leave the house. I asked my mother where we run but she don’t answered me. I still my mother many questions but I don’t get an answer to the question.
Suddenly I saw we are out I cant constantly hear people cry and scrims it was so terrible. I begin to cry too, I couldn’t find my dad. The earthshaking. Initial shocks lasting over 6 min. I was afraid; a house near our house was destroyed. The massive shock damaged homes and destroyed some of the buildings in town. People lost their lives during the earthquake. People help each other – there come help from Fairbanks. Aid come in the form of food, clothing, people whose homes was damaged get tent. Most of people whose homes had not been damaged began to return to them. Our homes had not been damaged. I stop crying and returned to my house I was afraid to go in to the house my mother say that it will never do again. I saw my dad and we went in to the house. It was an awful night. I will try to sleep now but I know I can’t sleep. I though about the beautifully painted wooden houses was burned to the ground.
