En britisk økonom har skrevet en bog, hvori han imødegår traditionelle teorier. Lykke, hævder han, ikke bruttonationalproduktet og i endnu mindre grad konkurrenceenvnen, bør være den økonomiske politiks altoverskyggende princip. Han underbygger sin teori: på trods af at de vestlige lande har det mindst dobbelt så godt som for 50 år siden, er de ikke mere tilfredse. En af årsagerne er, at velstand bedømmes relativt snarere end absolut. (Hvis kollegaens lønforhøjelse er større end ens egen, formindskes glæden.)
Et rimeligt betalt arbejde, som har plads til stolthed, udfordringer og selvstændighed, bærer lønnen i sig selv og skaber effektive, glade medarbejder.

A British economist has written a book, in which he opposes traditionally theories. Luck should be the financially politics all-important principal, not the GNP and either the competitive power. He sustains his theory: even though that the western countries have it twice as good then they had it 50 years ago, they are not more satisfied. One of the reasons to this is that wealth is relatively more like then completely estimated. (If the colleges wage increase is bigger then your own, your joy is reduced.)
A fairly paid work, which has room for proud ness, challenges and independence, the wage carries in it self and creates effective, happy co-workers.

He sustains his theory: even though the western countries fell themselves twice as good(/well founded) compared to 50 years ago, they are not more satisfied. One of the reasons for this is that wealth is more likely estimated relatively than completely. (If a wage increase of a colleague is bigger than your own, your joy is (relatively)reduced.)
In a fairly paid work, that has space for(jeg ville hellere bruge "contains") proudness, challenges and independence, the wage is its own reward and creates effective and happy employees.
