Stil "The First Party"

Hej...
Jeg er gået helt i stå med min engelske stil, som er en analyse og fortolkning af "The First Party" der er skrevet af Attia Hosain.
Jeg har indtil videre skrevet følgende:
The First Party
”The First Party” is a short story from Attia Hosain’s collection of short stories:”Phoenix Fled and Other Stories” which was published in 1953.
The story takes place at a private cocktail party. The main character is a young, Indian, Muslim woman who has just been married to an Englishman. She has never been to a cocktail party before and she is very uncertain and confused. She doesn’t know the social rules like if you stand up or not when you’re introduced to the other guests. She feels uncomfortable in this strange society. Her own background as a Muslim with very strong traditions is incompatible with the behaviour of the guests at the party, inclusive her own husband who drinks alcohol witch she thinks is a terrible sin. The young woman doesn’t take part in the party. She is just sitting and observing the other guests. In the beginning she is anxious but as time goes by she gets more and more angry. Her fear turns into hate.
The text doesn’t tell us where or when the story takes place, but it could be in an English community in India, since there are so many English people. It is unlikely that it takes place in England because the young woman doesn’t seem to have been much among English people before and if she had just moved to England she might have been more interested in socializing or trying to understand the English’s way of behaving.

Jeg er ikke enig i lulu90 første rettelse, det skal stå som du har skrevet det : has just...
..i modsætning til dansk hvor det kun er selve landene og ikke ord som danskere, italienere, dansk, italiensk vi skriver med stort. Så skriver man på engelsk alle disse ord med stort...

Jeg tror min stil er færdig nu. Er der en der vil læse den igennem og se om der er nogen fejl der springer i øjnene.
Hvis nogen kender novellen og har en idé til noget jeg bør tilføje, er de mere end velkomne til det!

She doesn’t know the social rules like if you stand up or not when you’re introduced to the other guests. She feels uncomfortable in this strange society. Her own background as a Muslim with very strong traditions is incompatible with the behaviour of the guests at the party, inclusive her own husband who drinks alcohol which she thinks is a terrible sin. The young woman doesn’t take part in the party. She is just sitting and observing the other guests.
Page 16 line 29 “She sat on the edge of the big chair”
This sentence gives us a picture of how hard the young woman finds it to see herself as a part of the western culture. All her beliefs, her morals, and the way she has learned to behave is challenged. She is emotionally on the edge of what she can handle. Her Indian and Muslim traditions clashes with western progress and culture. In the beginning she is anxious but as time goes by she gets more and more angry. Her fear turns into hate.
Page 18 line 31-33 “She fed her resentment with every possible fault her mind could seize on, and she tried to deny her lonely unhappiness with contempt and moral passion.”
The resentment and contempt helps her out of the feeling of insufficiency. It is a defence mechanism which helps her to avoid the anxiety, but it also makes her even more isolated. She judges the others without trying to understand their culture. She doesn’t think that she has anything in common with the others; she doesn’t want to integrate with them.
There is not much contact between the young woman and her husband. They arrive together, but spent the time at the party departed. The husband doesn’t seem to care much about her; he dances with the other women, and he doesn’t try to understand her difficulties. He sees her as a child and talks to his friends about her as if she is something he owns.
Page 17 line 7 “She’ll get over it soon. Give me time”
Her husband only comes to her at long intervals to say a few words or to present her to his friends. He gets angry when she refuses to dance with him. None of them tries to understand each other. The gab between the two cultures seems to vide to combine.
The story spread over one evening. It has a third person limited omniscient narrator. Most of the action happens in the mind of the young woman. The young woman’s development through the story goes through three phases; first she is nervous and anxious, then she turns into hate and detestation, and in the end she gets confused, bewildered, and sad.
