Jeg vil meget gerne blive gjort opmærksom på mine stave- og grammatikfejl. På forhånd tak (:

"In the years 1820-1932 more than 300,000 Danes travelled to America. There could have been more reasons that young people felt tempted to leave their country. However, they had to make a tough decision. The had to say goodbye to their families that they never saw again, and they should prepare themselves for a long journey on the sea for New York and a insecure future in a unknown land which tongue the settlers didn’t know.

The most Danes settle down on the prairie as farmers in the middlewest. From the year 1862 the State of American offered free land for anybody willing to cultivate the prairie, and 160 acres sounded as a dream being fulfilled for a poor Danish boy from a little farm in Jutland. But they had to work hard for many years before they started seeing results for their sweat, tears and blood. One could wonder that so many survived and managed well.

It must have been a lonesome life, far away from people, far away from friends and family and far away from doctors, schools and cities. Many letters sent home tell about disappointments, sorrow and homesickness."

Jeg siger tak. Indikerer de tilføjede kommaer parantetiske sætninger?

Nåh. Ja, det går de. Der skal typisk altid være komma foran 'whom', 'who' og 'which', ved mindre de har en essentiel betydning for sætningen.

Jeg ville sige:

In the years 1820-1932 more than 300.000 Danish people immigrated to America. There could be numerous reasons why young people felt tempted to leave their country. But they had to make a difficult decision. They had to say goodbye to their families, whom they perhaps would never gander upon again, and they should be prepared for a long journey at sea to New York and an insecure future in an unknown country, where they did not knew the language. Most of the Danes settled as farmers on the prairie in the Mid West.
From 1852 the American government offered free land to everybody, whom would cultivate the prairie, and 160 acres sounded like a dream for a pour Danish boy from a little farm in Jutland. But they had to work very hard in many years, before they started to see the fruits of their hard labour.
One can ponder about the fact that so many survived and did so well.

It must have been a secluded life in solitude, far from other humans, far away from friends and family and a long distance from doctors, schools and towns. Many letters home tell about disappointments, sorrows and homesickness.
