Abstract:
My problem statement to this assignment gives me three problems to work with. The first thing I am asked to do is to give a statement of the relationship between Great Britain and the former colonies in Asia, after the independence of India and Pakistan, to explain the presence of the many immigrants from these two countries in Great Britain. To find this answer I have investigated the period from 1947 until our time. I have found the reason to all the immigrants and the answer can be answered like this: in 1948 “The British nationality act” was presented which promised “free entrance” for all members of the Commonwealth-countries citizens and the “British properties”, which in this case, among others, were the Indians. This was after all only one of the reasons. Next, I am asked to analyze and interpret the novel “Brick Lane”, concerning the environment and a characterization of Nazneen, the main character. Using quotes, I find important parts in the text which tells us about the environment and the possibility of being integrated. In the characterization I focus on Nazneens development through the story. In the beginning she is a young 18-year-old girl, just moved to London from a village in Bangladesh, but in the end of the story she becomes a confident strong woman who fights for her children. It is a huge change, which is caused by her love to her daughters. Chanu, her husband, wants to go back to Bangladesh, but they want to stay. They have become integrated and wish to stay in London, and therefore, Nazneen pulls herself together and says no for the first time. At last I am asked to make a discussion, where I discuss the many problems about the integration of the Indians. Here I discuss the ghettoes influence on the possibilities of a successful integration, and how the possibilities are for a child, born into a nonintegrated family.
På forhånd tak :)

jeg kan fortælle dig så meget, at man ikke må skrive my, I, fordi det skal være objektiv - ikke personligt !!
