Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

The story takes place in Verona, were two powerful families has been fighting for years. Romeo and Juliet are from two different families who are enemies. There was a lot of tension and action between these families. Romeo was a Montague and Juliet belongs to the Capulet.
William Shakespeare was a very good English dramatist and he created many modern dramas. The thing that makes his drama so special is that there are action, flesh and blood and also love. His drama are still relevant today because of his capacity makes, the reader thinks about the conflicts and what it meant to be a human in that age of time. His drama is very understanding, because we can compare it to our world. “Romeo and Juliet” is a very good example of one of his most popular tragedies. It was wrote in a poetically and romantic way.
The main character in the story is Romeo. Romeo is the son of Montague. He is a young, handsome, intelligent, romantic and a sensitive man, who is only interesting in his love for Juliet. In the beginning we see how quickly he falls in love with Juliet.
But earlier he was in love with a woman named Rosaline, and it was actually her he wanted to see at the party but then after he saw Juliet, he falled for her immediately.
Shakespeare makes us confused about Romeos love to women because it went so quickly. But one thing Shakespeare is good at is that he is very good to prove the seriousness of Romeos feelings for Juliet, and therefore it makes the story even better.
Juliet is a young beautiful daughter of a Capulet. Juliet acts like a very immature and naive child. But after some time she changed and falls in love with Romeo, that makes her knowing more about love and she becomes more like a woman.
Juliet didn’t really have freedom to go out when she waned to, and therefore Romeo had to climb over walls just to see his dear Juliet.
“Romeo and Juliet” is a tragic and we can see that from the beginning of the story.
First they are meeting each other at the party where he tries to hide himself from the Capulet. And after that everything happens too fast for Romeo and Juliet. He had falled in love with an enemy, and at that time Juliet didn’t knew that he was a Montague and therefore it all came as a surprise for her when she found out that he was a Montague. But that didn’t changed there love at all. His fight with the Capulet didn’t end, one day he fought with Juliet’s cousin, and it ended up with Romeo shooting at her cousin which concluded with a dead. Romeo got banished from Verona because he had killed this man. The last tragedy in the story is when Romeo thought that Juliet had killed herself, but then he found out that she wasn’t dead. It was too late and they both killed themselves in hope for they will live further in another world.
“Macbeth” is also a tragedy. “Macbeth” has developed from a good person with empathy for other people and a good helping heart to a bad power hungering person who only was interested to fulfil his needs.
The witches he meets, changes his life, like; he will be the thane of Cawdor and he becomes a king of Scotland. But it all ends with the death of “Macbeth” just like Romeo. “Macbeth” wanted to be a powerful man and he was fighting for it and it went very well until he got kill.
“Macbeth” is a tragic hero and he was a hero from the beginning and he acts very safe about his position but this was an arrogant safe that ended with a death. This is tragic because he first was loved by many people and then he became a tyrant. Shakespeare tragedies heroes have a personal quality that will end with a death and that could be because of their greed and their needs for increase their power and their ungrateful life. That is typical in “Macbeth” and in “Romeo and Juliet”.
Romeo wanted to do anything to be with Juliet without thinking of the consequences and he died for that woman without thinking of his own parents and family that it will be hard for them to know that their son had killed himself. Suicide is very selfish.

Ultrakort:

- "The thing that makes his drama so special is that there are action, flesh and blood and also love."
> Kommaproblem, gælder også andre opremsninger.

- "But earlier he was in love with a woman named Rosaline, and it was actually her he wanted to see at the party but then after he saw Juliet, he falled for her immediately."

> Ordombytning, tak!

- "Shakespeare tragedies heroes"
