På forhånd tak:
Ron Kovic was born on the fourth of July 1946. He was an anti-war activist, veteran and writer who were wounded and paralyzed during the Vietnam War. Kovic is best known for his book “Born on the Fourth Of July” which was made in to a movie where Tom Cruise played the role as Ron Kovic.
Kovic was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and grew up in Massapequa, New York. Here he made a lot of friends during his childhood. He was an athlete and was in to wrestling which he was very good at. He also dreamed about being a professional baseball player for the legendary team, the New York Yankees. He would play at the local baseball stadium and fantasize about playing together with all the famous stars on the New York Yankees team.
He grew up as a typical normal American kid. He went a lot to church, was very protective over his country and would do anything to protect it. This was one of the reasons why he went out to fight in the Vietnam War; also he had always wanted to be a U.S marine.
The Vietnam War also known as the Second Indochina War occurred from 1956 to April 30 1975. The war was fought between the communist Democratic Republic of Vietnam and its communist allies and the US supported Republic of Vietnam. At that time the Americans were afraid of the communists (as they are today) and they believed that if the communists weren’t stopped, they would take over the world. It was therefore very important for them to help out the Republic of Vietnam against the communists. But they were no match for the Vietcong and the guerrilla warriors. The marines were not familiar with the land, and beside that the Vietcong’s had made a tremendous among of booby traps and hideouts under the ground. The Americans had discovered tunnels which were several kilometers long. The U.S marines did not have a chance at all to win the fight. This resulted in over 1.4 million military personnel were killed in the war (only 6% were members of the United States armed forces), while estimates of civilian fatalities range up to 2 million.
The Iraq War also known as Operation Iraqi Freedom (U.S) began on March 20, 2003 with the U.S in front. Beside the U.S, U.K troops along with other small countries like Denmark, Poland and so on also joined the war. Production of weapons of mass destruction was the main reason to invade Iraq, but also as the name “Operation Iraqi Freedom (U.S)” indicates, there were another reason. To free the Iraqi people from their communist dictator Sadam Hussein and give them freedom. Freedom to vote and freedom to speak, and say what you want (which is very important for an American). After years of search without luck people started to realize that such things as weapons of mass destruction never existed in Iraq.
For the past years the troops have tried to rebuild Iraq from the bottom. They have given the people democracy. They are also trying to educate them to build hospital, schools and obtain law and order. But still there are some people who want the old regime back. People like the Al Qaeda.
This is very similar to the Vietnam War. Both wars are trying to free their people from the communists, and both wars did not go as planned. There are also many civilian and military los. The American also thought that the war in Iraq would be a lot easier than it actually is. Like the Vietnam War it’s also very hard to see who’s an enemy and who’s a civilian, because they are living among each other and are dressed the same. This is also a reason for the big civilian los.

and beside that the Vietcong’s had made a tremendous among of booby traps and hideouts under the ground. // and Vietcong had furthermore made a tremendous amount of booby traps and underground hideouts...
Beside the U.S, U.K troops along with other small countries like Denmark, Poland and so on also joined the war // omformuler... brug etc. i stedet for and so on.
But still there are // but there are still
hospital// hospitals
Both wars are trying to free their people from the communists, and both wars did not go as planned // Both wars were about freeing....
There are also many civilian and military los. // Losses
The American also thought that the war in Iraq would be a lot easier than it actually is // The Americans also thought that the war in Iraq would be a lot easier than it turned out to be
Like the Vietnam War // Like in the Vietnam War it is also very hard to distinguish enemy combatants from civilians, owing to the fact that they live among each other...
This is also a reason for the big civilian los. // This is also a cause for civilian casualties.
