Hej,.,
jeg skal op til mundtlig engelsk B niveau eksam imorgen og har skrevet et par sætninger ned.. så jeg kan fremlægge det imorgen, men jeg er ikke sikker på at de sætninger er gramatisk korrekt...så hvis i vil hjælp mig med at rette de sætninger eller evt tilføjnogle sætninger og siig hvor jeg ligger sprolift... vil der være perfekt....

Peter Goldsworthy is an Australian writer and medical practitioner . He has won awards for his short stories, poetry and novels.

One of his famous short stories is One of My Best Friends witch he wrote in 1994.
One of My best friends is Fiction and it is told from the perspective of a first person narrator. The whole story is set around the narrator; we see through his eyes and “read” his thoughts.

Here we are in the narrator head and read his thoughts and I think that’s great. It makes the story more interesting


The main Character is the first person narrator, we don’t know his Name.
He is the son of a Police officer and later becomes a Police officer himself and he is about 30 years old and married.
The main Character is physically strong and knows how to defend him self. Maybe is because he is son of a cop. Already in his childhood, did he show a will, to defend himself from the other kid(S) at school for example.
The main Character is a little bit Emotional and it shows when he can’t break away from Willy and feels sorry for him.

The main character is that kind of person who doesn’t want to grow op. his wife thinks so At least.

Willy is another character in the story.
Willy is mulatto, half Australian (white) and half Aborigine.

Willy’s appearance and the way he looks are different from the other kids in neighbourhood. He has a flat nose, big, thick eyebrow and he is very thin.
Willy is very lonely guy and doesn’t have contact to other human being. He often perceives as a Victim (loser) and always gets mocked from the other kids.

Willy plays football for an Abo Team and their team act and plays very aggressive and violent, so the league doesn’t really wants them.

Willy live in a foster homes were he has been teased and beaten.
His environment is so bad that he always want to run away from home. He will rather be with the Main characters home than his own home.


The event takes place in a small town, a country in Australia, and a society with lot of discrimination which reminds me the history of Australia.
When in late 1700 Europeans arrived and colonize Australia. It became aboriginal’s nightmare.
The British who were arrived too missionary, took the aborigines child away from their parents by force and send them to foster homes in hope for that they will get lighter skin and develop to what they call a civilize human, like them in coming generation.
In that time, the child who was forced to leave in the foster homes leaved in the worse environment, just like Willy, they became a slave.
In the result of this Today Aborigines suffer mental disorders and metal illness. Most of them are with out a job and lots of them have drinking problem.

The Themes are Clash of culture, Australia, Racism and upbringing .

The message in the text is that other children or the society never gave Willy an opportunity and chance to develop himself.
He was constantly mocked, teased and beaten up, because he was different, he was an abo.
But why is it that children begin to make fun of him?
It is because they at home are use to making fun of the black. The children imitate what their parents say.
For example the main character is saying the same things as the father said in his childhood.
Or he became a police officer just like his father.
So I think lot of bullying problems discrimination racial problem that we know today is simply because of Bad upbringing.
