The Vietnam War
Vietnam had in a long time before the 2nd World War II, been the victim of both the occupation and war, namely France which had been the colonial power in the country since 1862, and China as early as 111 BC and more than 1,000 years hence had ruled the country. France, like many other European countries, wanted to have colonies in Asia, and gradually enlarged the French territory of neigh boring countries Laos and Cambodia, and this area was now called Indochina. In 1920 and -30 's increased the Russian-inspired communist nationalist Ho Chi Minh resistance against the French occupiers. He would later have a major impact in the fight against the Americans. Ho Chi Minh was unable to wrench power from the French, but still had their term in a small break in the years 1940-45, when the 2nd World War raged, Japan had occupied the country and oppressed in the largely Vietnamese citizens. The Japanese prevented the land and water routes between North and South Vietnam, which meant that industry in the south could not have coal, and had guys with rice, and that the North could not get rice, and therefore starving. It was subsequently estimated that in the winter between 1944 and -45 died nearly 2 million. Vietnamese. This led to a large extent, the Ho Chi Minh's Liberation Movement Viet Nam Doc Lap Dong Minh (the Revolutionary League for Vietnamese Independence), known as the Vietminh flowered at this time. Since the 2nd World War II ended in 1945, and the Japanese withdrew, Vietminh had already conquered large areas in northern Vietnam, quickly captured the Vietminh rest of the country, and the 2nd September Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam independent. But then this was not easy.
Throughout the world, hoping colonies at independence, as a result of 2 World War II. France had promised Syria and Lebanon autonomy, but would not of the Indochina. Even before the 2nd World War end, had the victor (with the exception of France), Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt met to discuss the upcoming World. Both the U.S. and USSR had interest in Indochina, and was not happy that France after the war, again had to be colonial. So when the war ended in 1945, it was agreed that it is now communist China would patrol in the north and south England. But the British were afraid that other colonies would also be employed when Vietnam was allowed, as the French had now again sway over the country, but now mixed Vietminh, and in turn would have an independent Vietnam. In the 1946 attack French Haiphong, this belonged to the Vietminh, and killed more than 6,000 people. Later this month responded Vietminh again with a surprise attack. Now was the first Vietnam-war break out. Vietminh took natural circumstances on the use, and led guerrilla war. They fought in the jungle and in the towns, dressed as peasants, among other things. France was playing against in terms of technology, but could not catch up with "terrorists and bandits" who Vietminh in the Western world was called. The final battle, the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, a French fortress in the jungle in Nor Vietnam, was won by Vietminh. Vietminh shot and razed fortress in 57 days. The French were so squeezed that they spent equal as barricades, but as equal-barricades also fell apart, took the Vietminh fortress, and had now won the war years in 1954 after 8 years of war. The war killed around. 75,000 died in France, where around. 25,000 of these were Vietnamese in French service. On Vietminh’s hand, estimated the Western estimates a loss of half of an entire one million dead. Subsequently adopted at a meeting in Geneva, dividing Vietnam into Nor Vietnam and South Vietnam at the 17th latitude, and that within two years, was conducted elections.
In the U.S., there were very afraid of communism, or rather the Soviet Union. During the 2nd World War was the Soviet Union U.S. ally, since they both had common interests in the overthrow of Hitler. But otherwise the Soviet Union had historically, almost always been the enemy of the United States. This continued steadily after the 2nd World War II. It was not without reason that the period after the 2nd World War II, was called the Cold War, when there was a race between the USA and the USSR to get as many new allies in the world. It all focused essentially on, to be so superior, economically and technologically that it had world hegemony. U.S. used the excuse to go to war places where they had nothing to do "to defend the world against communist evil face". Following China was communist, and that more places were created Communist parties, the United States realized that they had to take the lead in the war against communism. In 1954 formulated President Dwight David Eisenhower and Secretary John Foster Dulles "domino effect", which in its entirety was that if only one country in Asia fell to communism, the rest would fall by, like domino pieces. Although Eisenhower argued that the U.S. was a democratic and anti-corrupt country in favor of freedom and justice, prevented the election in 1956, when it looked to Ho Chi Minh Communist Party would win. Therefore, there were elections in South Vietnam, where Ngo Dinh Diem took over, by electoral fraud and help from the United States. He claimed that the country was democratic, but rather quickly became dictatorial regime. He was a Catholic and repressed all other groups, mainly Buddhists and Communists. This led to these two formed the FNL (National Liberation Front) in 1960.
U.S. supported Ngo Dinh Diem, economically, politically and with military help. The Americans were slowly more and more nervous about the Communist influence, as the United States sent more and more military advisers. There were deployed Special Forces behind enemy lines, and a military to defeat Vietminh’s guerrillas, known as the Viet Cong by the Americans.
