Radar is an abbreviation of Radio Detection and Ranging. Radar is a system, which makes use of electromagnetic waves to recognize the variety, height, way, or tempo of both touching and fixed items for instance airplanes, ships, weather conditions and territory. The expression of radar was founded in 1941 as short form for radio detection and ranging. The expression of radar has since come in the English language as a standard word. Radar was initially called RDF (Radio Direction Finder) in the Great Britain.
A radar system has in general a transmitter that produce either microwaves or radio waves that are reflected by the target and detected by the receiver, naturally in the same position as the transmitter. Even though the signal returned is typically very weak, the signal can be amplified. This allows radar to sense items at ranges where other emissions, for instance sound or visible light, would be too feeble to sense.
Radar is used in many segments, including meteorological detection of rainfall, calculating ocean surface waves, air traffic control, police and army.
