This study investigates the development in the Black Death with how the whole community reacted as it broke out, which will be explained and the disease evolution and infectious organisms such as Yersinia pestis. The investigation has also focused on the many problems in the middle Ages as oak how they tackled the plague as a disease when they had only limited knowledge of medicine. Expansion and a likely increase of the population during the first half of the Middle Ages were followed by a severe crisis with subsequent failure do crops and hunger. It hit large parts of Europe in the beginning of the 14th century, leading to stagnation in the size of its populations. It was during this period that the plague, a new and mysterious disease, began to appear. Numerous epidemics were to follow almost at regular intervals. The Black Death epidemic was probably the worst of its kind. It ravaged Europe in ca. 1337 decimating many of the population by half, and left vast deserted areas in its tracks.
