The Vietnam War did not accomplish anything from the view of the Americans and it was not worth the costs. Some historians and Americans can, however, not accept the fact that 58.00 Americans and billions of dollars was wasted for nothing, they see it as a lost campaign in the Cold War. It was not a campaign but a war. The war was the South Vietnamese to win or lose and nothing more could have been done to win the war without suffering horrendous high casualties.
The war gave effects on the foreign and military politics in America, the leaders demand a clear objective and mandate before starting warfare.
A new America was formed during the 60th and 70th and a new establishment was founded, because the old establishment was discredited by its policy in the Vietnam War. In additional to the new establishment, civil rights, environmental movements and feminist gained power and the society is today more egalitarian than it was 30 or 40 years ago. The Vietnam era did also give the American society some bad effects, one of the worse is that the society have become more fragmented and with a decreasing consensus on social, cultural and moral values.
The rebellions from 60th and the 70th and their questioning of authorities went too far and the legacy of Vietnam became the disruption of the American history.
3. What I have learned about the war
- The Vietnam War (1959 – 1975) was a terrible war, where many young people died. It had a tremendous effect on the American society. We see in “Haunted Heroes” how young boys are sent into war and return as old men unsuitable to function in a normal society. The author of “Ambush” cannot tell his own daughter, what he have done during the war and have use literature to express himself.
The object in Vietnam is obscured to the American people and it leads to massive war-movements that demands an ending to the war. In “Dear America” we hear about frustrated soldiers, that thinks of it as a useless war and how they are welcomed back in America, which is a big contrast compared with their fathers welcoming.
It was a horrible war, were both sides suffered great casualties and it was the first war USA lost

Her er nogle rettelser:

The war was the South Vietnamese to win or lose and nothing more could have been done to win the war without suffering horrendous high casualties. - denne sætning er ikke helt klar i sin betydning. "horrendous high casualties" - der ville jeg gøre horrendous til et adverbium, da det lægger sig op ad et adjektiv.
the leaders demand a clear objective - jeg ville ikke skifte over til nutid
60th and 70th - 60s and 70s (altså tresserne og halvfjerdserne, i stedet for det "tressende" og det "halvfjerdsindstyvende")
In additional to the new establishment - additional? jeg ville skrive "in addition to..."
jeg ville skrive feminists i flertal
the society is today - overvej at fjerne den bestemte artikel. Man kunne måske skrive "society today"
the society have become more fragmented - kongruensfejl
young boys are sent into war and return as old men unsuitable to function in a normal society. - ville skrive unable i stedet for unsuitable

compared with their fathers welcoming. - "compared to". der skal være apostrof ved fathers, eller man kan skrive the welcoming of their father

Jo, Mundo, det har han muligvis nok, men det drejer sig jo her om at få hjælp til selv at løse et problem, ikke at få sit produkt vasket ren af andre.
Mundos rettelser er vældig gode allesammen. Desuden:
