Dear father and mother.
Only a few lines to tell you that I have come safe and sound to it.
It was a tough trip over the North Sea, and it was terribly cold, and a part of the road we had to move slowly, because the sea was full of ice. There were not many passengers and most of them were seasick, the captain did his best to encourage us, sometimes with kind words, sometimes with good advice. Naturally we came late to the train in Harwich, so we were on the ship at night and took the first morgentog to London. It was a two-hour trip - the countryside so no more interesting, perhaps because everything was covered with snow. But London was wonderful. Descriptions of the mighty road is not in any way exaggerated. Our train was just entering the time in the morning when people are flooding into City to begin work in offices. Johnson was at the station to welcome me. They were extremely friendly, Mr Johnson took immediately to my luggage, and Mrs. Johnson asked a lot of questions about participating journey.
I'll write again soon.
