Anthrax

I would like to talk about anthrax (miltbrand).
Anthrax is an infection caused by the bacteria Bacillus anthracis. Although it's most commonly found in grazing animals like sheep, pigs and horses, anthrax also is used as weapons to infect humans. The anthrax bacteria can be manufactured in a laboratory(easily) - in a more potent form that is more resistant to treatment” than the real”- and the current concern is that man-made anthrax can be used as a biological weapon. Others have tried to weaponize anthrax in the past, without much success. That's because it's extremely difficult to produce anthrax in a form that will deliver enough spores into people's lungs to make them sick. Many thinks that Anthrax is like a flue, and transmit just as easy as a flue. That is wrong.

There are three main types of anthrax:

• cutaneous (skin) anthrax, which can occur if someone handles contaminated animals or animal products (especially animal hides) while they have a cut, abrasion, or rash on the skin
• intestinal anthrax, which can occur if someone eats contaminated meat
• Inhalation anthrax, which is extremely rare but can occur if someone breathes anthrax spores - usually found in the dust kicked up by animals - all the way down into the lungs. If anthrax is used as a weapon, it is this type of anthrax. Because it is, the most deadly of them.
Shortly after the 9/ 11 terrorist deliberately spread Anthrax through the postal system by sending letters with powder containing anthrax. This caused 22 cases of anthrax infection. And those 22 cases is the only known in USA in the last 25 years. So Even though we have heard a lot about anthrax after the 9 / 11. It is a very rare disease. And more than 95% of anthrax cases in the world are from cutaneous anthrax. If you get treated in time, there will be almost 100 percent of surviving. And even if untreated, 80 percent of people who become infected with cutaneous anthrax do not die. The last 20 percent is week people and people infected bye inhalation.
