Young people of today use the television to a lot of things. When they are alone or have problems the television becomes their loyal friend. The article “TV-det faste holdepunkt” is written by Lise Juel in March 1998 and includes the different things young people use the television to.
First of all the young peoples use of television reflects their everyday. If they for example are in bad mood and have troubles or conflicts with their family they watch TV. It helps those young people thinks about something else and forgets the problems for a while. Jens, who is 17, says that he once has some conflicts with his football club and he also looses a lot of friends, therefore he begins to use the television instead of his “real life”. The television here is like a break for his social life, un till he will go back to his everyday. Gitte, another young girl says, that mostly it is her father who decides what they shall watch in TV, and when Gitte does not want to see it, she goes upstairs and watches her own television. From that example we can see that television separates the individuals of the family but it can also be the opposite of what Gitte says. Another example from Camma shows that the family members are together to watch TV.
Another thing, young people use the television to, are to talk with their friends and family about some problems, which includes in many television series, like Beverly hills who is about love, confusion about the opposite sex and the problems or conflicts in everyday, which normally is difficult to talk about.
