Something on the Mind

This boy is John. John is 15 years old, he lives in The South Bronx New York, with his parent’s, and he is an only child. John grew up in London, England until he was almost 14. His dad Michael got a job in Manhattan, so his parents decide to move to the US. So right now he lives in the dirty neighbourhood with gang, crime, prostitutes and drugs. Yes, I’m talking about The Bronx. John’s parents won a trip to Thailand for a month. They left their son home alone, because they thought he didn’t need a babysitter, but after a month without any respond from them, John begins to get worried.
Johns letter to his parents. 5 May 2004. Dear mum and dad. (crying) I hope you are enjoying your vacation in Thailand. You supposed to be home in a week, I can’t wait to see you. I’m having a good time at home in Bronx, well almost. I know that this is the third letter that I’m sending. There is just something on my mind that I can’t really stop thinking about, and I’m getting worried now. I haven’t heard from you guys for really long time. Dad, you didn’t call me and tell that you received my letters that I wrote for 2 weeks ago. As usual, you also were calling every second day when you travel to hear how it goes. I haven’t seen you for long time now, in fact, from that day in the airport when you went away, and I’m missing you so much. I know that the trip was in a month, but with no phone call my mind says that there is something happened. I’m online at Skype everyday to see if you guys getting on so we can talk, but no you are always offline. I can’t get any connection to you, because you don’t take your phones’ when I call, and never on at the internet. You staying at a 5 star hotel so I guess there is Wi-Fi. I have no idea what I supposed to do. It’s boring to be home alone. I haven’t been in school for 1 week, I hope you don’t get mad dad.? I heard the radio this morning, and they said that there is a tsunami down there, and it is very violent. I hope your intact, and doing well. I have no money left. Mum you gave me $150 I spend them all on food, and a little bit of candy for the sweet tooth. By the way, grandmother is in the hospital, she broke her left foot. I visited her yesterday she is fine, but her foot still hurts and it’s swollen. Anyway, I think this is all, I don’t know what I should write more. Hey! I almost forgot something, I just want to say that I’m watching Catch me if you Can right now, with Tom Hanks and Leonardo Dicaprio you favourite movie dad ha-ha?. Anyway, I can’t wait to see you when you guys get home, I hope you will respond my letters. See you mum and dad in a week. Much love John.
After 5 days, John got a letter from the hotel where his parents lived. In the letter stood: Dear John. I hope you are okay, I’m not your mum, or dad, I’m working at the hotel in Thailand. I read your letters’ that you send to your parents’ and you perhaps wondering why they didn’t respond you and all that. Well I really don’t know how to say this, but your parents’ past away. They were taken by the tsunami. 2 days later the rescuers found them dead in the water, we don’t know so much about it, but I’m really sorry. I cried when I saw you letters, I can understand that you were getting scared and shocked. Tomorrow you will get a call from the police, and they will tell you what is going to happen with you. Your parents’ suitcases and stuff are still in the room. We will put it somewhere or send it to you. I’m so sorry John, this was definitely not easy to tell a 15 years old boy. The next day the police called John, but he did not take the phone. They found his address, and they decided to drive over to his house in Bronx. When they arrived, the door was open. The cops entered the house. John was on his bed in the bedroom. They talked to John, but he didn’t respond. They shook to him, and he did nothing. John was unconscious. On the table besides him, there was an empty pillbox, and a chlorine bottle. John committed a suicide. The cop’s called an ambulance while they looked around in the house for a little. On the floor there was a little note.
