In the story we have two persons. Both persons have many things in common. They both are single, no children and both of them lives alone. The story starts with Miriam, the main character in the story, takes a taxi after a regular checking from the hospital. Here she meets the taxi driver and she finds him different and interesting, with his dirty neck and the weird statement about his life. He says that his life is like a dog, he is lonely like a dog. In the whole story Miriam tries to convince him about the positive things in his life. Her attempt to cheer the taxi driver up fails and she starts to think about her own life. She thinks about her husband, who ran away with an English actress and left her alone, but after that she became successful. Until the reach Miriam´s house, Miriam decides to invite the taxi driver inside the house because she realizes how lonely she really is.
