Account for Rachel Rodriquez’ life as an migrant in Texas USA
Rachel Rodriquez is a Mexican woman that legally immigrated to USA. She is the only one between her siblings that migrated to USA legally.
Rachel Rodriquez encounters many problems that are common to immigrants. Despite she has been good at integrating into the society she still has difficulties as she feels split between two cultures and she doesn’t feel at home in Texas. This feeling of disruption makes her feel a colossal need to hold her family together. It is clear that Rachel Rodriquez does not feel satisfied in her dally life but when her daughter shows up with her baby she apparently experiences a felling of solidarity and that everything is fine as long as she is close to her family.
Rachel Rodriquez biggest dilemma is that she will never understand the culture in USA to a degree were she is fully integrated neither will she be able to leave USA and bring her closest family back to the poverty in Mexico.
Comment on the beginning of Long nights, low pay no play
The actual headline ”Long nights, low pay and no play” gives us an idea about the storyline. By the headline we get the idea that this article is about someone working under bad conditions but we are not told who those people are and how it is happening. This way of writing stimulate our curiosity and encourage us to read more.
The following introduction is written almost as a dramatization, this catch us immediately and maintain our interest true the whole article. It’s of central importance that the first lines in an article catch the reader as this keep him maintained through the whole article.
Target group of Long nights, low pay no play
The article’s target group is the citizens of London and maybe the whole Britain. The article is meant for those people who don’t see the immigrants as equals. The journalist tries to change the citizens’ general attitude to immigrants as it seems like many people are blinkered to see how the society treats immigrants. The article appeals to our emotion and give us a felling of sympathy with these people. I think the journalist tries to chance the general opinion and understanding of immigrants in the society.
