Lilian Thurgood lives together with her two Alsatians in a house.
One day when Lilian was picking guavas in her garden she could hear her dogs growl on the stoep. Lilan creeped to the other side of the house, and a black man was standing at the other side of the gate. He was looking after some work. At first Lilian gave him five-rand coin, but she quickly realized that the man was difficult to get rid off. He was begging for work and in the end Lilian let him clean up the leaves as he begged for and leaved him alone out in the garden.

The man came into the house, when he was finish working; he said he had worked for ten rand. Lilian was speechless it could not be true that he demanded more money. The strange man was giving Lilian creep, and she quickly searched for ten-rand. She could not handle it any more and commanded the dogs to attract him. Lilian was threaten him to call to the police, and at last she went to the bedroom, took her pistol, pointed at William and commanded him out off the house. Lilian was shocked and stunned and in the evening she cried her self in to sleep.
