Short Character Sketches

Hamlet:  Hamlet is the prince of Denmark, son of the Danish king who is killed by Claudius. When Hamlet finds out that, his father is dead, he is completely shattered and to make the loss of his father worse, marrying his mother Gertrude with Hamlet's uncle Claudius, who has now taken over the Danish krone. Hamlet simply can not understand what can get his mother to marry his mother's brother as soon as his father has just died and his memory and death is still fresh in the memory and the heart. Gertrude means everything to Hamlet, but when she marries Claudius, Hamlet can not help but feel a kind of hatred for her because her actions after the king's death does not make sense in his head.

Hamlet misses his father watched as his father's ghost appears to him, he does not quite it really is his father or whether he just hallucinate. He finds out that it is his ghost and stuff ghost tells Hamlet shocked him. It is a point of no return in Hamlet's life because Hamlet finds out that his uncle Claudius, who has married Hamlet's mother Gertrude, is actually the person who has turned Hamlet's father to death.

It gives Hamlet a completely new perspective on not only life, but also his uncle. Hamlet becomes vengeful and plan to turn Claudius to death, but before this can be accomplished player was crazy. King's death, the Queen's marriage and the unveiling of killing putter Hamlet in a complex situation where his world is going down the hill. Although Hamlet is planning to take revenge on Claudius, it takes him yet awhile to execute vengeance, perhaps because he is so preoccupied with the idea of ??taking revenge that he doesnt  get done it. Hamlet goes from being a quiet but strong-minded prince who is trying to overcome his father's death and his mother's new marriage to be a vengeful and cold-blooded crown heir

Horatio: Horatio er Hamlets tætteste ven og igennem hele stykket er han loyal og rock steady mod Hamlet. Horatio attends the school of Wittenberg with hamlet, so he is a scholar who has good sense. Since he is a scholar, he is considered as one of those who can judge if the ghost of the late king is actually real or just a hoax. Horatio er meget loyal idet than tilbyder at ofre sit eget liv, da han finder ud af at Hamlet er døende. Hamlet vil have at Horatio vider fortæller den tragiske historie om kongens død til folket. Horatio er en scholar og han bruger sin viden til at vider fortælle ved hjælp af ligene af bl.a. Hamlet. Horatio is like a guide mentor in the story. I starten af stykket er Horatio loyal og rock steady og dette forbliver han igennem hele stykket. Ved at tilbyde selvmord viser Horatio at han er en god og hæderlig ven.

Laertes: Laertes is the son of Polonius and the brother to Ophelia. Laertes is in the same situation as Hamlet. Hamlet likewise has a father who has been murdered by the man, with whom his mother has a relationship to. Laertes is more of a man than hamlet, because while hamlet plans to take revenge. Laertes goes beyond that and takes immediate action. He comes home from France and takes his revenge. Despite their different approach at taking revenge, they both end up dead I the same way. They kill each other. Laertes not only loves his father, but he adores his younger sister. Until the end, he fight with hamlet to clear who loves or loved her the most. Laertes loves his family to the end and about it ends up being the reason of his death. After having fought with hamlet to the end, he asks hamlet for forgiveness and he receives it.
