På forhånd tak... :)

---------------------------------------

Cloning has become one of the most argued topics in ethic debates today. The fact that scientists in theory could create two clones, two identical humans, is either an amazing discovery, or a nightmare come true. That kind of cloning is called “reproductive cloning”. But the fact that we can make new healthy stem cells that could cure people from diseases and other dysfunctions one might have (which is called “therapeutic cloning”), is unbelievable. Then the golden question appears once again: “Is it okay to play God?”

I’m not really much of a Christian. In fact, I’m an atheist. So I couldn’t care less, if someone said to me, that we shouldn’t interfere with God’s creations, because it is just wrong. “Get a grip” would be the first line to strike my mind in that case. If the creation of fresh stem cells from a healthy human embryo could improve some ones life quality and help them, I can’t see the reason why not to do it, because it pretty much seems like a win-win situation to me. Speaking from an ethical point of view; even if the stem cells didn’t “work” as they should, nobody killed anybody in the attempt. And if you get knocked down, just get on up and try again. Eventually it will work, according to scientists.

I’m against reproductive cloning. You could say I don’t like the idea of two human beings, who are totally identical, wandering around the streets. The difference in our genes is what makes every person unique. I like the fact that there is no-one like me in the entire world, that I’m one of a kind. But even if reproductive cloning was kept an illegal action, clones would still wander the streets. Identical twins are natural clones. They have the exact same genes as their twin.
The famous writer H.C. Andersen once wrote “The Ugly Duckling”. The moral of that story, is that it is heredity rather than the environment, which determines what kind of a person you in time will turn into. I disagree. It is beyond my mind, how he came to that conclusion. E.g. if someone who has violent, drinking and no caring parents was adopted at birth, and grew up in a safe non-violent Christian environment, then that person would, according to my calculations, turn into a nice decent human being. And if vice versa, the person would turn into the direct opposite. I can’t understand how genes alone would determine the outcome of a lifetime.
If we could create a baby after a certain recipe (and in theory, we can), every person would probably end up with blue eyes, brown hair, six feet tall, and there would be no bald- blind- or deaf people. Everyone would look the same, and the term “unique” would no longer exist. We would certainly not want another Adolph Hitler to walk the earth, but how about another Gandhi or one more Michelangelo? Wouldn’t that be cool? No! The reason why people like these has made their mark in history, is that they were unique. There was only one of them, and no-one could do what they did. If everyone was like them, no-one would stand out of the crowd, and their ability to amaze us would escalate. Here is a metaphoric comparison: If everyone knew how to play the guitar, Mark Knophler, Carlos Santana and other guitarist wouldn’t have succeeded the way they have.

I don’t believe in destiny, and the idea that free will is not an option and everything is meant to be. If someone develops cancer, is it predestined in some way? Is it written in the stars? No! It is merely bad luck, unfortunately involving some deaths now and then. But if we could prevent that kind of bad luck, we should! Then again, if every disease could be cured with insertion of new stem cells, the only thing that would kill people naturally would be aging. At first that might not seem like such a big problem, but if you think ahead, the earth will sooner or later be overpopulated. Diseases and aging is Mother Nature’s way of keeping balance in the universe, and prevent overpopulation. But for now, it is all still theory. As far as I now, there has been no tests with the insertion of stem cells, with a clear conclusion. Overpopulation will definitely not happen in my lifetime, and I don’t know how the human race will deal with overpopulation when the time comes. And quite frankly, I don’t care. I’m not around when it happens, so why should I bother? Therefore I think we should get on with the scientific experiments, so we can help those who need it. A good plan today, is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.

line 18 has a semi-colon, and some of your sentences are very short making them into statements, such as line 28 "Identical twins are natural clones." Fine if this your intension, but us English use comma's more, and not so many full stops.

I am against using capitals with words such as "but" and "and", but I am assured that it's accepted nowadays :-)

Otherwise it looks fine! Good job :-)

"but us English use comma's more"

"Us English" should refrain from using apostrophe+s in a plural word!

could create two clones, two identical humans > hvis man går efter to identiske individer, så skaber man én klon, ikke to. Man har det oprindelige individ som den ene.

In fact, I’m an atheist. So I couldn’t care less... > ikke punktum

some ones > someone's

no-one > no one

drinking > alcoholic

no caring parents > uncaring

bald- blind- or deaf > bald, blind or deaf

their ability to amaze us would escalate > ??? Er du sikker på, at du mener escalate?

Tusind tak.... :D Det er den slags småfejl der lige koster en karakter hvis man er uheldig...
