In the first painting is The Lady of Shalott portrayed standing in her tower, where she is entangled in yarn. There are many different colours in the painting and the background is decorated images of angels, fruits, trees, and other such things. The window shows the landscape of Camelot which is bright and beautiful. The window is kind of the bright spot in the painting which symbolizes that the joyful life is outside of the tower. And the fact that she is entangled in yarn, is might really a way of describing her trapped life in the tower.
In the second painting is The Lady of Shalott portrayed sitting down and either looking at the mirror or sleeping. In this painting is it drawn to our attention that the main conflict is her sexual awakens, where Hunt means the problem is her being misery because she is trapped.
Her sexual awakens is obvious by the way her body language is reaching out for something outside of the tower and the fact that her web is a portrait of Sir Lancelot.
Also the atmosphere in the room seem a bit erotic, in the way she is leaning back against blue satin with close eyes and probably dreaming about Sir Lancelot.
The mirror reflects a blue-gray circle that has the characteristics of a crystal ball in which she might use to see her future or it could be a symbol of her longings and desires as in the poem.
The two paintings are quite different from each other. The first panting symbolizes her being trapped from the real world and Hunt has not painted the mirror which seems a bit odd as it is an important symbol in the poem. However the second painting symbolizes her transition from a child to a women and the awakening conscience as the poem also refers to.
Still both paintings describe her being trapped and her longing for a real life outside of the tower, which are also the main points in the poem.

Du skal tænke over dine prepositioner (outside of) samt dine ental/flertals endelser. (F.eks. "The background is decorated images of..." og "the atmosphere seem")
