From the beginning to the end, Johnny´s Mother is constantly indirect prejudices Boyd because of his skin colour not because she is a racist but because she does not know better. Which can sees because she is talking very polite the whole time, and she is very concerned about that her own son not exploit him. But in many ways it is clearly that she has her own view in how black people are, she compares them with poor people, who are happily if just they can get something to eat. In many ways she compares the view on blak today with how people regard the black in the past.
