“You Are Now Entering the Human Heart” written by Janet Frame, is a short story about a teacher who did not believe in herself and she lost of her dignity. The text is written very realistic. With an hour to spend before her train left Philadelphia, the author went to the museum. At first she was tempted to explore a walk-through model of the human heart, but instead she went to the Hall of North America where an attendant was explaining the difference between poisonous and harmless snakes to a class of children and their teacher. To demonstrate his point, he draped a grass snake around the teacher's neck. She was terrified, but managed to appear calm for what was certainly her first physical contact with any snake. The children were tense and watchful, but admiring, impressed by her bravery, and a few of them shyly approached the reptile. Suddenly the snake thrust its flat head toward the teacher's cheek. She screamed and flung it on the floor, then collapsed, crying, in a small canvas chair. She look at the horrified children, trying in some way to for their respect, to tell them that it was not her fault that she was city bred, but they were shut against her. As you can hear is the main theme in this story about fear and afraid.Skriv et svar til: hjælp hurtigts muligt
