Dear Debbie, Carlos, Said and Tom. Thank you for your letter. I will love to tell about our country.
I will begin the letter with telling a bit about myself. My name is Louise and I’m 15 years old, and I live in a little town called Hørning. I live here with my mom, dad and my big brother. I think that the Danish people live a normal life. In other words, Danish children go to school five days at week and the last two days in the week they’ve got weekend. The parents are at work when their children are in school. So I think we live a very normal life.
My school is called Højboskolen. Many places in your country you have school uniforms on. But in my country we don’t have school uniforms on. We can just wear basically whatever we want to. In our school system we start at an infant school, when we are about 6 or 7 years and after a year we start in first grade and so we just continue up to grade 9. When we leave 9 grade we study further. Some students go to different high schools or leave home to stay one year at a boarding school. There are also many who take a year of either to work or to travel to another country.
I like to live in Denmark. But I would wish that Denmark was like in the old days, because back then Denmark was a more safe country. Today you cannot just go out alone on the night because you can risk being attacked. But still I love to live here. I think that the young people in Denmark are interested in sport, music, clothes and parties. I believe that your country and our country are very similar to what young people are interested in. In Denmark today the young people talk about sport, music and clothes etc. But they still think that their education is very important because if they haven’t got an education they will not get a job later. The parents think that the most important thing is to get an education and I think that all parents in the whole world feels the same why.
I do not know very much about U.S.A but I believe that you are living the same way as we do here in Denmark. Many times I get the wrong impression of the United States in the TV and in magazines. I believe that I have got a wrong impression of U.S.A. So I would like to visit your country when I’m old enough, and see the real United States, because I think the U.S.A is a lovely country like Denmark.
The plan for my future is that I’m going to be an optician and to have a family. I hope you got the answers you were looking for.
