The American president is elected every fourth year. To run for presidency does the candidate need to be, born in The United States, be an American citizen and be at least 35 years old. That is the reason why Schwarzenegger doesn’t run for presidency. The most interesting states are the so called swing states, the president candidates often visit those states to talk to the voters. Florida is a swing state and both the republicans and the democrats are fighting hard to get the votes from this state. The president election is always the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The election campaign is often very expensive and the media has found out, that Sarah Palin has spent 800.000 kr. on clothes and make-up. Right now does it look like, that Obama is wining the elections. Indsættelsesdagen(?) for the new president is 20th of January. Yesterday could you read in one of the Danish newspapers, that the Americans is buying lots of weapons, because they are afraid that Obama will introduce a prohibition against certain types of weapons. One of the most important subjects is health insurance, and 45 million American citizens do not have health insurance, because they cannot afford to pay the expensive forsikringpræmier(?).
