Atticus doesn’t think it is okay for them making funny caricatures of their neighbour, perhaps because the snowman really looks like Mr. Avery which might not make Mr. Avery more excited about it.
Previously in the story Jem and Scout found in the tree-trunk two scrubbed and polished pennies – called “Indian-heads”. These two things seem to have some kind of connection and as I think it was Boo Radley who had placed the things in the tree-trunk; it has to be him who put the blanket on Scout.
We are told that she had a shadow of her old grin crossed her face when they tell her that they are awful sorry.
she tells Jem and Scout: “Always wanted a smaller house”, now she have more room for her azaleas, and when they ask her if she aren’t grieving she answers: “Grieving, child? Why, I hated that old cow barn.
Harper Lee use theses contrast the night were Atticus wakes up Scout and Jem. Here we are told it is freezing cold, but as a contrast they look at the fire which is extremely warm.
