Jason Colavito is a man who have describing the text and he giving us some idea of what horror is. In the start he tells us that the horror genre is a unique product of the Western culture and in the eighteenth century it began to spread around in the West at the end, and after this, the horror story found its voice as a unique metaphor for the displacement from the past. He thinks also that horror includes philosophy. Some science fiction scholars claim means that horror is purely emotional, and in this way Colavito disagrees. The modern science have respond literature in two ways, that science fiction described our hopes and had an undercurrent of horror while horror stories told us about nightmares and fears. Many think also that horror not as a genre, but as a sub-genre of sci-fi and fantasy, but Colavito reminds us that horror came before sci-fi and fantasy.
Stephen King says that horror exists on three levels: First that it is purely mental fear, and where horror is both mental fear and physical revulsion of a known evil, at last it is only revulsion in a disgusting way. Jason Colavito reminds us also that there are some categories that horror can be: Supernatural horror, weird tale, contes cruelles, psychological horror, dark fantasy, science fiction and other genres.
Colavito describe “horror” as a genre, deal with feelings connected to horror: Fear, revulsion, terror, anxiety, dread and discomfort.
