"An Inspector calls" By J.B. Priestly

The story "An inspector calls" takes place in London in year 1912. The Birlings are celebrating the engagement between the daughter of the house Sheila, and her fiancée Gerald Croft. Mr. Birling (which is Sheila's father and the director of a big firm) holds a moral speech, which includes themes like egoism, war and solidarity. They are all having a good time, but suddenly they hear a knock on the door...
A police officer called Mr. Google enters the room. He wants to have a word with Mr. Birling.

Mr. Goggle informs Mr. Birling about that a girl died this evening. Birling doesn't care because he didn't know her. After a while Mr. Birling remembers that she work in his firm, but that he fired her because she required some increase. The girl was now mental unstable, because she didn't had a job.

Know Mr. Goggle wants to talk with Sheila. Sheila realizes that the girl that they are talking about, is the same girl who Sheila got fired from a clothes shop, only because of jealousy. Sheila was jealous because the girl had a beautiful face and body.

Gerald discovers that he had an affair with that girl (called Eva Smith). Everything is getting too weird, and Gerald walks out of the door to get some fresh air.

Sheila's brother Eric, also finds out that he had an affair with her, but he dumped her, when she got pregnant. Eric stole some money from his fathers office, so the girl could provide the kid, but she wouldn't receive them.

Eva Smith is now so depressed that she seeks up some social help. Mrs. Birling is in the committee where they help people. Mrs. Birling doesn't want to help Eva.

Now everybody is feeling guilty in Eva's suicide, except Mr. and Mrs. Birling. They can't see why it could be there fault, and they are more worried about there family reputation than they feel sorry for Eva Smith.
Gerald returns. He tells them that there isn't a policeman called Mr. Goggle and that it was all fake. Know they are all relaxed. Suddenly they here a knock on the door - An inspector enters the room...

They are all having a good time, but suddenly they hear a knocking on the door. A police officer, called Mr. Google, enters the room. He wants to have a word with Mr. Birling.

Mr. Goggle tells Mr. Birling that a girl has died this evening. Birling doesn't care because he doesn’t know her. After a while Mr. Birling remembers that she works in his own firm, but he fired her because she demanded a raise. And when the girl didn't have a job - she became mentally unstable.

Now Mr. Goggle wants to talk with Sheila. Sheila realizes that the girl they are talking about is the same girl Sheila got fired from a clothes shop, because she was jealousy of the girl since she was beautiful and had a nice body.

Gerald now remembers that he had had an affair with that girl (called Eva Smith). Everything is now getting too weird, and Gerald walks out of the door to get some fresh air.

Sheila's brother Eric also finds out that he had had an affair with her but he broke off the relationship with her, when she got pregnant. Eric stole some money from his father’s office, so the girl could provide the kid, but she wouldn't accept them.

Eva Smith is now so depressed that she seeks up some social help. Mrs. Birling is in the committee where they help people but Mrs. Birling doesn't want to help Eva.

Now everybody is feeling guilty of Eva's suicide, except Mr. and Mrs. Birling. They can't see why it should be their fault, and they are more concerned about their family reputation, than the sad death of Eva Smith.

When Gerald returns he tells them that there isn't a policeman called Mr. Goggle and that it all was fake, and they are all relieved. But suddenly they hear a knocking on the door, and an inspector enters the room…
