Just like that

The story "Just like that" is about a boy and the ritual he has to perform to be a man.
There is a man with him, guiding him through the ritual, taking other creatures' lives.
The boy does not a written age but you can assume that he is around the early teenage years, with the way he thinks and acts. Nor does he have a written name.
The boy is very fascinated at first, when he sees the man shoot a kangaroo.
After the boy has shot his first kangaroo he is surprised how easy it was. He does not have any feelings for the dead beast and he can not see how this will make him a man.
The boy only say two different sentences through the entire story. "Yes, i can do it" and "Dead".
Only an obvious answer to the mans question and a repeating of the mans earlier words, after the boy have killed the man. There is no statement in the words he say, meaning that the only reason we know what the boy thinks (except from his actions), is because the storyteller had full access to the boys mind.
He does not like the man, leading to the boy, end the mans' life, as a revenge for all the blood the man already have got on his hands.

I will not interpret this essay as that is not something i am supposed to in this assignment.
