"Nowadays there are many young people, who travels round the world. They go abroad in larger numbers than their parents’ generation. Today it’s more cheaper and easier to travel. This is probably one of the main reasons, why young people are determined to discover the world. It gives you the opportunity to experience the world in a different way – The different countries-, cultures- and languages. During the last decade there has been a global boom among young people, who travels round the world.

There are a lot of different opinions about it. One of the positive things is that the young people get experience. Maybe they use their time to find out, what they want to do with their lives. Another positive aspect of travelling round the world at a young age is that you have to adapt you to the foreign cultures. The fact that you are, more or less, forced of adapting to a culture different from your own may help you to see and understand the world in a different way. You learn to accept different cultures. They may also improve your langauge- and communicaion skills, which are useful in your future career. Today it’s more cheaper and easier to travel, but it’s not everybody, who can afford to go abroad. If you don’t have the money to it, and your parents can’t help you, you have to get a loan to pay the trip. That makes it a lot more expensive, than if your parents could help you.

The young people also learn to survive with very little money in the pocket. You learn to spend your money carefully. You can also get in trouble, if your passport or your money gets stolen, then you have to find out how to get to the embassy and how to get home again without your money and passport.

At the age of 16, my friend went to the United States of America for one year to study at the Friendswood High school. The stay gave her the opportunity to study the language and the American culture from a unique perspective. When she came home to Denmark, she was the happiest girl in the world. “It was the best experience in my life”, she said to me. She learn to adapted to another country’s lifestyle and moral standards.
I love to travel and experience the world in a different way, but I don’t know, if I have the skills to do it – To travel by my own without my mom and dad by my side. What should I do, if I need help – If I need money or something? I talked with my friend, and she said, that i differently have to try it, because it’s the best experience in the life.

So in the end there are a lot of positive and negative aspects of spending time in foreign countries at a young age.

My advice to anyone, who wants to travel round the world, is: “DO IT, BE IT, LIVE IT”.
