1) What is a refugee?

A refugee is a person, who is threatened by race, religion or political beliefs, therefore seek residence permit in other countries. Moreover many refugees come from devolving countries like Uganda, where the lack of education possibilities, hunger and overpopulation, as well are the main causes of seeking residence permit in especially industrialised countries, were the conditions are much better. For many refugees this is there only chance or hope of a better future, and they goes through emotional experiences in this process.

2) How are they treated in Denmark compared to the Usa ( the past and now)

In the 70’es in Denmark the rate of unemployment was in a increasing level, so the Danish government was inviting foreigners, as workers.
But today many refugees, who are seeking residence permit and asylum in Denmark, have to go through the “national test” that has been strongly criticized by the media, because of its difficulty.
My class tried the “national test”, and less than half of the class passed the class. This I think is unnecessary, because the refugees have limited knowledge of Denmark, and this makes it almost impossible to get residence permit in Denmark . Moreover there have been discussions about the conditions in the asylum the refugees are living in. There have been several articles about children with serious psychological problems as result of the conditions and there emotional experiences.
But in the other hand its necessary to protect Denmark, of terrorism, the security has improved as the result of 9, 11, the terror attack in the USA.
Compared to the Usa, it’s easier to get residence permit, but the illegal immigration is a rising problem in the USA. That’s why president Barack Obama, had just made a reform to reduce the amount of illegal immigration.
