Decoration of the body goes far back in time. The human has always loves to decorate themselves, at different ways.
Piercings began in the early sixties in the U.S and have spreads all around the western world.
Many girls get ears pierced already as child almost all over the world.
Tattoos have also become more popular specials among men.

What are body decorations?
Body decorations are art made on the human body. The most common forms of body decorations are tattoos and body piercings, but other types including scarification, scalpelling, full body tattoo and body painting are performed as well.
Piercings and tattoos have never been as popular as they are today. For less than 50 years ago, piercings and tattoos were not as common as they are today.

Tattoos.
It is made by that ink dots through the skin and into the leather skin. Today it is usually done by using an electrically powered machine that pushes a needle up and down, and it goes through the skin every time it goes down and then sprays a small amount of ink into the skin.
Most people's tattoos have a special significance for them and it does that every tattoo is a personal expression.

Piercing.
Piercing means to make a hole through something. When one piercer, presses, a sharp object into your skin and lets it come out somewhere else. You can be pierce almost anywhere on you body. Nose, eyebrows, cheeks, nipples, navel, lips, tongue, and intimate places

(Scarification is a category within extreme body art. Scarification is done with very sharp knives that are specially made for Scarification)

Why body decorations?
The prices of pierces and tattoos are very much depends on size, decorate and what colours. For example a piercing in the nipple cost 500 and a piercing in the ear cost 100 Danish crones.
But although it is expensive, it is still in to get one ore more tattoos and piercings made. But why?
It is to look different and stand out from others. Or maybe to get attentions. Or it is only because people think it is great art. Of course is there someone there get a little fish at the ankle because they think it is beautiful, and that have I nothing against. On the other side I think it is okay. But for the most people doing it to get more attention, confidence and be different and stand out from others. Some get almost the entire body tattooed and pierced. I think that it is too much and completely unnatural. They do it only to get attentions and to hide their true personality.
Some are also competitive in how many tattoos and piercing they can have. Some people get a tattoo or a piercing by accident, for example after a crazy party where you’re still drunk. It is often your friends who persuaded you to have a tattoo or a piercing made. And the day after you can nothing remember and regret it. If you want to remove a tattoo, there are many different ways, by laser or chemical operations. If the tattoo not is too big.
Some people get tattoos because they're in a gang where all the members have full body tattoos. Many will be pierced in order to decorate the body, perhaps also to operate crude, or to demonstrate that they can endure some pain.

People have always felt the urge to decorate themselves in one way or another.

My attitude.
I have nothing against getting tattoos and simple piercings. I have five holes in my ear and a navel piercing. But I do not think it is nice to have the entire body tattooed and pierced the body.
I will not have tattoos, I might it is nice now, but in old age would it be ugly and not special sexy.
So whether you think that piercings and tattoos are art or fashion, they have been here long and they are here to stay.
