Teenagers in love (with money)
By Amon Cohen

Amon Cohen has visit a camp for trainee tycoons in Florida.
A small group of 11 to 15 years olds is sitting in a hotel conference room studying the Wall Street Journal.
A supervisor, ask the kids if it is good that ford is putting its prices up, the kids is not sure.
The supervisor replies that it is good. Because then profits go up and ford can pay bigger dividends.
For a fee of $625 the kids can come to one of the most exclusive hotels in the United States, where they can play golf and volleyball.
Mr. Upton is a good teacher; he can whisk them through the jargon and mechanics of the stock investment. Most of the children were fascinated by the complexities of risk-reward analysis.
Mr. Upton gave the kids some advice and they scribble them down.
The keenest tycoon among the kids is Gerard Di Santo II; he knows he is going to make lot of money. He does not intend to make the markets his main career; he sees it more as a hobby.
Christine another kid from the camp is 12 years. She wants to be a marine biologist.
Money is not her concern right now; her hobbies are swimming, going to the beach. Playing with friends and going to the mall. Christine’s sister also wants to join the camp.
Mr. Culverhouse a father of one the kids says he believes in the trickle-down and the trickle-up theory. That mean if the poor become richer, they can spend more money to make the rich richer.
The last day at the camp, the kids invest $100 each in the stocks of their choice.
Most of the children invest in familiar names.
Gerard Di Santo II has brought $1000 in cash, he settles on Western Digital as the better bet. The broker thinks he is a smart kid. Gerard wins the prize at the graduation banquet.
Mr. Upton asks the children. “Is it bad to be a capitalist? No! It is if you gamble, but if you give some of you money to the poor, then it is ok.
