Now and then the language of the young people is for discussion. A well-known Danish woman writer recently opened a protracted dispute about the significance of words in a feature article as she claimed that the rappers’ lyrics are sexist. Not only do they express an outdated, male chauvinistic view of women, the feature writer maintained, but by virtue of their violent and slighting expressions maybe they do have coresponsibility of some of the odious assaults and rapes which the media tell about frequently.
Very likely it cannot take one by surprise that the rappers feel that they are completely innocent, and that their freedom of speech is threatened. They hold that they only reflect society and the way the young people talk and they have no influence on what other people possibly may have felt inspired to do by their lyrics.
The two points of view have supporters on both sides of the generation gap and probably there cannot be given any easy answers on the questions. So even though public debate is a little abated it will return for sure.

Mit bud på rettelser:

EVERY NOW AND THEN(,) the language of [the] young people is UP for discussion. IN A RECENT FEATURE ARTICLE, a well-known Danish woman writer STARTED a protracted dispute about the SEMANTICS OF words, as she claimed that the rappers’ lyrics are sexist. Not only do they express an outdated, male chauvinistic view of women, the feature writer maintained, but ALSO(,) by virtue of their violent and DEROGATORY expressions(,) THEY MAY have CO-RESPONSIBILITY FOR some of the HIDIOUS assaults and rapes which the media tell US about frequently.
IT CAN HARDLY COME AS A SURPRISE THAT the rappers feel that they are completely innocent, and that their freedom of speech is threatened. They hold that they only reflect society and the way young people talk(,) and they have no influence on what other people possibly may have felt inspired to do BECAUSE OF their lyrics.
The two points of view have supporters on both sides of the generation gap and probably there cannot be given any easy answers TO the questions. So even though public debate HAS CALMED DOWN A BIT(,) it will return for sure.
