Rettelse af abstract, hurtig hjælp

This paper explores the period before the American civil war and afterwards an analysis of the novel Cold Mountain written by Charles Frazier. At least the paper values the factual use in the novel and makes a discussion about differences between the novel and the movie “Back to Cold Mountain”.

The American civil war was for many reasons a war between brothers and families who lived in the different states; the Union or the Confederate State, which fought because of the issue of slavery. But it is also pointed that the war began because of the many political issues and other disagreements soon after the war of independence. The outbreak of the war meant a lot of differences for many people. In the analysis of the novel Cold Mountain is it described how the war affected people who stayed home during the war time. Ada, whose father just died, lives alone on the farm Black Cove and symbolises the many women with bad conditions during the war. Ruby, who is a black woman, helps Ada and they develop mutual physically and mentally during the war while Ada waits on Inman to come home. Inman also experiences a process of formation as a symbol of America which was under a development.

It is concluded that the American civil war was a bloody war with many intern conflicts. Charles Frazier is emphasizing the war was equal to the death of the nation as well as the death of Inman. Also is it pointed that the war not only was about slavery but the Confederates who tried to protect their own land.
