SUBJECT: Investment in technology infrastructure
As the Company is getting bigger and bigger internationally, the competition is also getting harder. Then it’s of course important that we keep being up to date concerning technology and in communications possibilities, which exist. By that you could have a good dialogue with every employee in the Matpool concern in the world. I have been talking with other companies who have introduced this fabulous idea, which they have seen as a profitable investment.
The proposal contains that all the employees of Matpool will get a computer with Internet access, which only should cost them a symbolic amount. This will not just be a good deal to the workers, but at the same time it helps you better to make the employees get to understand this company’s needs.
The communication between the management and out to the employees will be much better. At the same time, you will have great opportunities by planning and getting in contact with the employees when they are away from their office.
You will the whole time be able to tell all your employees, what the consumers think about our products and the service in each personally respect.
As shop steward I speak on behave of many of your workers, that this would be an excellence initiative. We believe in an investment like this because you can get many benefits out of it too. And at the same time qualify the whole international staff in computer skills.
This will of course take some time establishing, but in the long run it seems to pay.
Ford Motor and Delta Air Lines Inc. were the first to offer their employees the benefit of cheap PC’s. Now they have after a year got a lot of great knowledge with an international e-business network like this and is still very satisfied by their investment.
I suggest, on behave of the employees’ request if you could arrange a meeting about this idea and discuss the good/bad sides. I know, that PeoplePC Inc. produce and deliver these components and they have experience in establishing such kinds of networks for big firms like Ford for example.
