The state should ensure the people a certain minimum income and cushion the worst effects on unemployment. But in the last years Europe’s Welfare States seems to be serious threaten. Nobody wishes or suggests abolition against the Welfare State, but in many countries there is a growing recognition that changes are necessary. In the 50’s and 60’s economically time of rising, it was easy enough to the government to introduce more social reforms, but the crisis and the unemployment last in the 70’s has resulted in the social expenses is rise so fast and drastic that you after a lot of peoples opinions has reach – or crossed – the limit to what we can effort.
