Trafficking with women.
In many Eastern European countries and the former Soviet Union, are trafficking with women and still a growing problem. In these countries, are the living conditions and the prospect of life, for many women very gloomy and therefore they dream about a new life without poverty, in for example. Italy or other EU countries.
They are therefore easy targets for people who promise to arrange the trip to their wish country and provide them work, housing and arrange the necessary papers for them. The women have often put themselves in a great debt to raise money for the pimps for their trouble. It often appears that the women are actually being abducted by these helpers, they get drugged, and when they wake up, they find themselves far away from their destination.
These traffickers sell the women to brothel and nightclub owners who force them into prostitution under threat of violence or notification to the authorities, where the women can look forward to an indictment of prostitution, which is punishable in many countries. There are now waiting the women a degrading life, where they must obey their "owner" the least hint as to avoid reprisals.

The international community is indignant over this obviously exploitation of women from countries where there is great poverty or war. The efforts to help countries have in the meantime been limited. International organizations like the EU and NATO, there already are in the area, as observers and peacekeepers have often found themselves in a double role. On the one hand, they have to make sure that this exploitation and violation of human rights does not take place, on the other hand, it has been disclosed that several of these emissaries and soldiers themselves are customers of prostitutes.

Some of the worst examples of white slave trade take place in areas that are under international supervision and protection.
