Gary is calm boy who is a little bit Christian religious because when he shall kill the little wood grouse he said “God forgive me” (page 5 line 71) and that can maybe come because of the war and what he has seen in the war.
Gary brother are Bud and he is the opposite of Gary. Bud is more evil in his Brothers because he shoots this Wood grouse down and when Gary asks why he cannot answer why he did it. Bud is also wary interest in his brother’s time in Vietnam. Bud can also see that there is something that irritate Gary and Bud is very interest in to know what had happen
The theme is friendship because these two brothers can talk about the problems they have. Gary has just bin in the terribly war in Vietnam and that irritate him. Gary is so lucky that he has a brother Bud he can walk whit in the beautiful nature and talk about the problem and what he has seen.
