Nevertheless, it is extremely difficult to find a meaning to these relentless and terrifying incidents, and from that basis, it (is) obvious to say that cults are dangerous (and anti-social). These occurrences are of course very extreme and belong to the “worst-case-scenarios”, so maybe it is not fair to base our general attitude on cults in the light of the above examples. Maybe these highly publicized cases have also convinced several people that many or all cults are extremist groups that are highly dangerous. We know that many people criticize cults of being anti-social. Various sources also report that cults (especially Scientology) have a seizure-like and paranoid relation to psychology and especially psychiatry. It often seems like some cults isolate themselves from the “normal society” by learning delusions about important life philosophies.
(There may be a limit to what people are willing put up with*); when we just start to compromise on our basic views and transcend personal barriers, cults might be dangerous and anti-social.
