”A mari usque ad mare” er mottoet for Canada, som strækker sig fra Atlanterhavet til Stillehavet og fra Nordpolen til den 45. breddegrad. Landet er altså vældig stort, men der bor kun ca. 24 millioner i dette store land, langt de fleste i den sydlige del.
De oprindelige befolkninger, eskimoerne og indianerne, udgør under to procent af befolkningen som helhed, men ca. halvdelen af befolkningen i the Norhwest Territories. Af den øvrige befolkning er 45 procent af engelsk og 28 af procent af fransk oprindelse. Resten er indvandrere fra hele verden.

”A mari usque ad mare” is the motto of Canada which stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and from the North Pole to the 45th degree of latitude. So the country is huge but there only lives about 24 million people in this great country, most of them in the southern part.
The native populations, the Inuit and the Indians, make fewer than two percent of the population as such but about one half of the population in the Northwest Territories.
45 percent of the rest of the population is of English and 28 percent of French descent. The rest is immigrants from all over the world.
